Requirements
System
In order to run ABC Viewer, Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework is require. If it is not already installed, it can be found as an optional download through Windows Update. It can also be downloaded here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=1639
Operating system
ABC Viewer runs on the following Microsoft Windows operating systems: Windows 7 and newer
Machine
To optimize your ABC Viewer experience, we recommend that your computer meets the following minimum requirements:
- CPU: 1,2 GHz minimum
- RAM: 512 MB minimum
- Hard disk: About 100 MB required
Depending on the size and structure of the data you wish to analyze, machine requirements may differ.
Internet access
If your connection to web pages requires that you use a proxy server you need to configure ABC Viewer to do this as well.
Firewall settings
For full functionality ABC Viewer require access for communication to and from the domain abcservicecloud.com and all subdomains (templates.abcservicecloud.com, errors.abcservicecloud.com, lic.abcservicecloud.com, update.abcservicecloud.com eg.) on ports 80 and 443. The application uses HTTP and HTTPS. To ensure complete functionality all types of data should be allowed through unaltered.
Microsoft Data Access Components
ABC Viewer uses Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) to communicate with Microsoft Excel and Excel sheets. The minimum required version of MDAC required for 100% compatibility is 2.6. Furthermore it might be required that you install a Microsoft JET-driver, which can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2deddec4-350e-4cd0-a12a-d7f70a153156&displaylang=en
Please note that you can use ABC Viewer without these installs if you don’t use Microsoft Excel or Excel sheets. Furthermore certain system configurations do not require that you install Microsoft MDAC and Microsoft JET. An example of such a configuration is a Microsoft Windows 7 computer with a full installation of Microsoft Office 2010.
Note on Excel-integration
ABC Viewer is tightly integrated with Microsoft Excel. For full compatibility with all features you must be running Microsoft Excel 2003, 2007 or 2010. The minimum requirement is Microsoft Excel 2000. Using ABC Viewer with Microsoft Excel 2000 might require that you install some additional Microsoft data drivers for full compatibility. This is described in the section Installing Microsoft Data Access Components.
Installation
Installation on a stand-alone Windows PC
This description applies to: ABC Viewer is being installed on workstations. If ABC Viewer is to be run via an application server then see the section; Installation on an application server. Please make sure that the workstation where you wish to install ABC Viewer meets the minimum requirements as described in the section System Requirements.
If you are installing the software on a shared network drive please refer to the section; Installing on a shared network drive for more information about security configuration.
Please note that we recommend that you close all applications when running the ABC Viewer installation.
- Download ABC Viewer from our website via the URL: http://files.abcsoftwork.com/download/abc_viewer/latest
- Double click / Run the downloaded installation file
- Finish the setup guide. ABC Viewer is installed using a setup guide that while guide you safely through the installation process. Follow the guide and ABC Viewer will be run automatically when the installation is complete.
Recommended update frequency
It is recommended to always run the newest available version of our software as it contains the latest error fixes and feature additions. If your IT-setup doesn’t allow users to update software automatically/manually, it is recommended that your IT-department schedule an update procedure at least once per quarter year.

Install on application server
Installing ABC Viewer is very similar to the above approach. However, there are some pitfalls, which should be avoided. These include, but are not limited to:
- Automatic updating which isn’t possible unless the user is administrator.
- Proxy settings, such that these don’t have to be typed in manually by users.
- License information for users, such that these don’t have to be typed in manually.
